I am giving this review for those that want an honest opinion or experience on a 2021 Dodge Durango. I have had a love/ hate relationship with this vehicle. It was the wrong size car for my large family. My 3 boys are all 6’ and taller. My little girl is just that, little but big and old enough to be out of a booster seat. We originally leased this brand new in NJ and then continued to purchase the vehicle. We have since moved down south. It had its glitches. The Uconnect infotainment system from day one would frequently ask me to agree to something regularly in order to use it. That was annoying. The right headlamp stopped working completely and cost over $2000 to replace the entire unit when the vehicle turned 5. The back seats are on the harder side are certainly not comfortable for very long trips (6-12 hours). But aside from those things, it has great pick up for around town trips and on the highway. The seats lay down making it spacious when rearranging the layout in the back is necessary. We were in a serious accident yesterday as we were rear ended on I-95 by an F350. We proceeded to clip the right back bumper of the car in front of us as I swerved in an attempt from hitting their car. It was unavoidable. It was only my daughter and myself in the vehicle. She was in the middle row, right side. The car has been totaled but it did not crunch or crumple. It stood strong. The entire back is smashed. The one tailpipe is kinked and a strong piece of metal behind the plastic back bumper bent forward in the middle and punctured my spare tire under the car. The front left tire completely snapped off. But the interior of the car frame didn’t shift or bend that we could see. The most dangerous place to be seated in this car is the 3rd row. The back window completely shattered. Glass flew all the way up to the front of the vehicle (and some down my back). Before impact , I yelled for my daughter to hold on as we were about to be hit. I could see the car coming fast behind me and I heard his tires. She threw a blanket over herself and braced. It was terrifying but we were able to walk away without any injuries. We are hoping none develop. I did find out that headrests are key to help prevent spinal cord and whiplash injuries. There are only 2 head rests per row. Shoulder belts are also key for protection. I am still in shock that the vehicle stood up to F350 Ford pickup truck along with clipping the other small car. Grateful to be alive. This car did its job. The airbags did not deploy, possibly because it was not a full head on collision. I never want to have an experience like this again, but I also feel the need to share it with anyone looking to purchase a used 2021 Durango. Again, I am amazed we walked away.

This is my second Durango. The first was a 2015 RT which lasted to 170K before a camshaft/lifter problem. Looked at other SUVs but none could match the feel of the Durango. The Hemi, the trim, the sportiness, all were big sellers for me. Only have 6500 miles on it but it has no disappointed. Miss the lack of fog lights and while the floor shifter was missed in the first one now it just gets in the way of the cup holders.

It's naturally aspirated and probably the best bang for your buck! I read many reviews and disagree with some of them. When you get behind the wheel of this particular vehicle, you have to appreciate the feel of a V8 Hemi engine. Some reviewers mention the efficiency (or lack of). Would you expect anything less from a car that delivers this much horsepower in an unassuming way? I also own a Ram 1500 that has all the bells & whistles (also with a 5.7L V8 Hemi), and it's already 10 years old, but just as beefy as the day it was being driven off the lot. I bought this knowing full well the gas mileage I would get, but don't care. I looked and researched electric cars for years, and still not convinced to go that route. My love for these types of cars stems from growing up at my parents' gas station. Forty years of exposure to American muscle cars has been extremely influential in regard to my choices when buying a new car. It's not broken and doesn't need fixing. Maintenance is the key to longevity.
